Never Personal But Always Spiritual

“Then he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your GOD, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer” – Daniel 10:12 NLT

We are at war, and unlike in the movies, where the enemy announces his arrival, our adversary strikes in silence. He is always scheming and executing his demonic plans to absolute perfection. They say the greatest play the enemy played was convincing the world he doesn’t exist. Whether you know it or not, or choose to acknowledge it or not, he is always at work and his desire, unlike GOD, isn’t to prosper you. The world believes they are exempt from his attack and they haven’t declared him their enemy. They think he only preoccupies his time with those who have labeled him as their adversary. Whether you like it or not, you have already made that choice. You are either for GOD or against Him. If Jesus is your LORD and Saviour, then satan is your mortal enemy and is busy plotting your demise. Unlike in the movies where we can see the adversary’s weapons as a sign of war, this opponent doesn’t use conventional weapons, and this is why he is defeating most in secret.

In the above scripture, it is clear that the very moment Daniel started praying, his answer was given. The reason this breakthrough was not evident to Daniel was because it was resisted for twenty-one days. In the same way, we receive a word/breakthrough from GOD and immediately receive it with gladness and anticipation. But for some reason, the physical manifestation of that promise/word is nowhere in sight. Some may then lose hope and start to doubt its authenticity without realizing that it is being resisted. There are forces that are at work fighting the same word. This is why when these promises are delayed, we ought not to give up or lose hope, if anything, we ought to rejoice in the knowledge that their delay signals their authenticity.

“But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away” (Matthew 13:21 NIV). This parable is the perfect example of spiritual warfare. It demonstrates how our adversary is always busy trying to steal that which belongs to us. He comes to steal the word that’s destined to give life. He comes for the word and because of the word. This is why we must remain vigilant and pray for discernment, so that we can tell when we are under attack. This is important because he will even use those who are walking this journey with us, he will use them as pawns to attack our defense.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in GOD for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4 KJV). We do not wage war like the world does, our weapons of warfare are spiritual and divine. We use GOD’s weapons to attack and defeat an enemy that is baying for our blood. It’s never personal but always spiritual. We put on the whole armor of GOD; we attack using the sword of the Spirit. We are not passive but always active. We are soldiers in GOD’s army. We will never be defeated.

We do not wage war like the world does, our weapons of warfare are spiritual and divine. We use GOD’s weapons to attack and defeat an enemy that is baying for our blood.
