“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” – 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NLT
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,” – 2 Corinthians 4:17 NKJV
When going to war, you’re not only going in physically prepared but you also go in with detailed information about your enemy and how you should face them. This detailed information includes their motives, tactics, weapons, etc… The purpose of this is that you know them like the back of your hand so that whatever they do/throw at you doesn’t faze you/cause you to give in to the enemy, instead it should propel you to respond in a way that which you’ve been trained to respond in. We need to understand who we’re dealing with. This a very organized force that has a clear understanding of spiritual order. Keeping in mind that GOD leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade (2 Corinthians 2:14), this doesn’t mean that we’re being given a free pass to be ignorant and without discipline in the Word of GOD because this is one weapon that we often overlook/take for granted most especially when we’re going through things, forgetting that this is the weapon that unlocks faith, the same faith that comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of GOD (Romans 10:17).
Christianity is a costly walk and it requires a lot of sacrifices but most importantly the sacrifice of self (wants/needs/desires). There’s always going to be something that will be required of us to give because this walk is not carnal, it is a walk of faith, it is spiritual and we’re spiritual beings. Though the challenges we face are brewed in the spirit they manifest themselves in the flesh, this is done deliberately by the devil so that we become frustrated, lose our marbles, and fight back in the flesh, he is trying his best to make sure we don’t become effective in our identity because he’s well aware that the only way to conquer him is in the spirit.
For us to activate our faith during trying times we need to know what the Word is saying in the trying times, about the trying times. “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:6-7 NIV, to be rooted and built up in His Word is to be rooted and built up in Him for He is the Word. Spiritual warfare becomes meaningless if it is done outside of GOD and His Word. GOD has to be at the center of it because our complete victory is in Him.
