Seeing A City In The Sand Storm

Seeing A City In The Sand Storm

“By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is GOD – Hebrew 11:9-20 NIV

Currently, in South Africa, the odds of winning the lottery are 1 in 14 658 134 400. To put this into perspective, it’s like you betting with 14 billion 658 million 134 thousand and 400 people, and picking the exact numbers. That’s why the chances of winning are literally almost impossible. A guy from America won and when asked why he bet, he said he always knew he was gonna win it, he can’t explain it but he’s always known that he would one day win even though his family thought he was crazy. In his mind and his heart, he had already won even though there was no physical manifestation. Even a man who probably doesn’t know GOD, who probably didn’t think there would be divine intervention for him to win, could genuinely believe in his heart that he would win. As Christians who serve a LIVING AND FAITHFUL GOD, what can we achieve if we truly believed and apply all of our might in our pursuit? Food for thought.

Abraham left his home and his family to go to a place he had never heard of, a place he’d never seen. Let’s put it into perspective, he was instructed to go without knowing where he was going, not knowing if such a place existed. Yet he packed everything, and by faith, took his family with him (most of us would probably have left family and gone on our own to first make sure if there is such a place). The Bible says, he could visualize a city with foundations even though that city had not been built as yet. Yet by faith, in a GOD who had spoken to him, he put everything on the line. Why? What did he know that maybe some of us currently don’t know? Could this maybe be the reason why he was called a man of faith?

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” – Jeremiah 29:11 NIV. Gold and silver belong to the LORD, and the Bible says, every good and perfect gift comes from Him and He doesn’t change like shifting shadows [James 1:17]. This very same GOD who doesn’t change, the very same GOD who assures me in His Word that He has nothing but prosperity for me, this GOD will make sure I succeed.

So my prosperity is assured if I commit all my plans to Him and I take action. This requires faith that sees things that are unseen, faith that sits under tents in the middle of sand storms but still sees a city with foundations. The problem with this faith is, it will test your resolve as it will require you to step out into the supernatural. The plans (e.g. business) are divinely given, and therefore don’t make physical sense, as they will be birthed in the spirit and will require steadfastness, amid naysayers. Be careful not to share them with those who lack spiritual vision, as they might speak death (knowingly or unknowingly) before they manifest. This is why Gabriel had to shut Zechariah’s mouth, so that he couldn’t kill the Word with his unbelief. As a man thinketh…

This very same GOD who doesn’t change, the very same GOD who assures me in His Word that He has nothing but prosperity for me, this GOD will make sure I succeed.
