The Power Of The Spirit Life

The Power Of The Spirit Life

But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” – Acts 7:55-56

Yes the flesh gets caught up, because the flesh is weak. It feels pain, discouragement and loneliness and all these are weights that slow down spiritual progress. This is why Paul ended up saying to the Corinthians that I wish you were as I and not marry because the married care about the things of the world, how they will please their spouse! He says I would spare you the trouble. I believe that commentary has more to do with flesh vs spirit life because the spirit is untouched by bondage except that it is held back by the flesh it occupies.

Jesus lived in the power of the Spirit, He was not guided by conscience but by truth. He didn’t come to satisfy the requirements of earthly living but to empower spiritual living on earth. He didn’t speak the way He was “supposed” to in order to be understood, He spoke for the sake of spiritual advantage and thus carnal resasoning was stupefied! He acted above the realm of the natural so as not to give the flesh a chance to weigh Him down thus walking in power and ultimate rulership over the flesh.

Stephen before he was stoned to death was already caught up in the spirit, he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God, the guy was far out! The Bible says he was full of the spirit. Even in death he couldn’t be emotional to condemn his killers but prayed compassionately for them. The spirit life is powerfully transcendent that even death loses it’s significance. The spirit life is Christ Himself. It is everything natural life is not!

“He answered and said to them, ‘because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.” Matthew 13:11.
