“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.” – Galatians 5:16-17
The message “Understanding the Weakness of the Flesh”, 26 September 2021 is a life-altering message. This message is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, people talk about the ‘doctrine of Christ’ this message is it, the finished work accomplished for us at the cross by Christ. Complete and unalterable. Do not allow the enemy to tell you ‘but’, there are no ‘buts’, we are a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). We must meditate on this Word, listen, if this Word is true, then we must allow it to erase every other wind of doctrine we heard before that has left us dejected and unsure of our salvation. This message does not say ‘you are right’, ‘do as you please, all is covered in grace’, no, this message says instead ‘there’s no doubt of your guilt but you have a champion advocate with Christ in whom you have full forgiveness and redemption!’(1 John 2:1). To me this is a big deal, this is everything. My whole life if I hold onto and remember one thing, this is it, Christ did it all, He did it all for me and this work stands eternally! I am personally running with this, there’s a lot to grasp in Christianity and it is a lot, but I promise you my brother and sister if we take Jesus just as He is, if we accept the sacrifice He became for us and walk in that forgiveness alone, we can move mountains and overcome all our struggles! (John 16:33).
Your spirit man is born again, your flesh is not (1 Thessalonians 5:23), it cannot be born again, but we subdue the flesh by the Spirit. There is no point trying to understand and appease the flesh, you can only outsmart the cunning of the fallen nature by the Spirit. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8. Jesus is the answer to every question. I have encountered people who are not satisfied with this answer, they want something “reasonable” when you talk to them, they want you to be ‘realistic’ and give them an answer that appeals to the senses, and I understand that, I get why the carnal mind can’t compute salvation by faith in Christ, but it doesn’t change the principle (Hebrews 10:39b), we believe and are thus saved. This faith is the same one that takes away our guilt, it is by this faith that our past failings are erased if we allow (believe) it. It is by this same faith that our identity is changed, if formerly a loose and promiscuous person, now are we clean and restored, practically a virgin (Matthew 9:29b), because really what is meant by ‘new creature’? If formerly a criminal, now guiltless (no matter your crimes) I know this is difficult to digest, especially when you’ve been violated, but no one who comes to Christ will be turned away (2 Samuel 22:4), and all are required to repent, and forgiveness is promised. This is how people like me have a place in the Kingdom of God, pure mercy. Just believe and run with it. No matter what people still say about me, no matter what grudges others still hold against me, the blood of Jesus has spoken, I am new and am being saved by my faith in the Son of God! Thank you, LORD!
