The Grace To Overcome

The Grace To Overcome

“God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person, bringing salvation for everyone. This same grace teaches us how to live each day as we turn our backs on ungodliness and indulgent lifestyles, and it equips us to live self-controlled, upright, godly lives in this present age.” – Titus 2:11-12 TPT

I’m pretty sure that at some point we’ve all heard it being said that “grace is not a license to sin but rather the enablement to overcome sin”. We just come from the Passover weekend/celebrations, which for me serves as a reminder of what Jesus has done for us. In the above Scripture, we are told that “God’s marvelous grace has manifested in person”, this tells me that Grace is a person and the person of Jesus Christ. It is when we get to know Him that we know the grace of God. He died for us so that we no longer have to carry the burden of sin but that we can live a godly life pleasing to GOD, dying to our own will but taking up the will of the Father.

We’ve all struggled in some or other areas of our lives even after we were born again, we tried in our own strength to overcome. Today if we look back, we will realize that it was through Him that we overcame and that there is no formula or steps to follow. GOD today is still extending the invitation for us to come into a relationship with Him, to give ourselves as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). It is when we give our lives over to GOD that we can be pleasing and holy in His sight. Will we still be challenged and tempted? Yes! But we have the backing of heaven to overcome.

“We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, GOD planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!” Ephesians 2:10 TPT. GOD has a plan for each and every one of our lives, however, that plan is IN Him. That plan was there even before we were born, we have our part to play and that is simply to say, “Yes, Lord! Not my will, but Your will!”. We have Jesus, the grace of God, for us to overcome all things!

It is when we give our lives over to GOD that we can be pleasing and holy in His sight. Will we still be challenged and tempted? Yes! But we have the backing of heaven to overcome.
