“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with GOD, and the Word was GOD. He was in the beginning with GOD. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” – John 1:1-3 NKJV
We all know that GOD created the earth and everything in it through and by His Word. And as we read through each major exploit in the Great Book, we also see that they were initiated by GOD speaking a Word. He spoke of the end and it always took the obedience of the hearer to bring the Word into motion. “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8 NKJV.
The issue with most of us is that we reason a lot of things through the flesh, our knowledge, and our intelligence. And then we make the assumption that GOD does the same. So when we receive a word of prophecy, we tend to start analyzing how it is going to come to pass and how possible it is considering our current state, and only then do we decide if we receive it or not. This is such a pity when you consider that GOD is everything we could never be or comprehend. The One who owns the Word and chooses on whom He will speak it knows that it is HIM Who is also responsible for making it come to pass. But our unbelief, doubts, and reasonings not only delay our own blessings but can even cancel the very Word that was sent to change our lives. “Do not scorn or reject gifts of prophecy or prophecies [spoken revelations—words of instruction or exhortation or warning].” 1 Thessalonians 5:20 AMP.
It is easy to write ourselves off or to conclude on a matter when we have been in it for too long. To not see how anything can possibly change or what GOD can do about it. Even Sarah laughed when she heard that she would have a child in her old age. It was impossible according to her and the standards of “nature”. But she failed to realize that the One who spoke it was and is reliable and dependable. The problem with us is that, because the Word is often delivered by a human being, we tend to hear the man and not the voice of GOD speaking through the man. Jesus warned us “and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3 NKJV.
We suffer so much on this earth because of our unbelief. A word of prophecy often comes when we are at our lowest, darkest, and in our deepest despair. And it comes to edify, comfort, and encourage us when we need it the most. This shows us how much GOD loves us. He has never and will never leave us nor forsake us. Ours is to receive the Word and allow it to do what it has been sent to do. To be at peace knowing that it can never return to Him void and it will absolutely accomplish what it has been sent to do. May our obedience to the Word we receive be the fuel needed to catapult our lives into the next level of glory. For our lives to be as prophetic as the Word sent to us and the church of Jesus Christ.“Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” Revelation 22:7 NKJV.
