”For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.“ – ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭23‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

”and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in GOD’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to GOD your gratitude for your salvation].“ – Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭AMP‬‬

There is a popular picture of a donkey tied to a loose chair that once did the rounds on social media. The caption on the picture was, “Freedom is a state of mind.” This was because the donkey stayed in that space of captivity without understanding that, if at any point that it chose to move, it could. The chain and the chair were just an illusion that existed to the extent to which it allowed. This too goes for many of us when it comes to making life choices that either emancipate or bind us to the old ways of being.

The Word of GOD in this season has been, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.“ ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬. But how many of us have taken the time to analyze our lives and take stock of what changes we have made mentally and physically since the Word was released? I ask this because, if our lives contradict what GOD has said, then we cannot say His Word is not coming to pass for us. If my thoughts are still stuck in the old, and my dreams and desires are to revive what has passed because of sentiments, or I, even in any way, romanticize what GOD has long removed, then I am clearly the problem.

It will always be GOD’s desire that we go from glory to glory in every area of our lives. The beauty of this process will always be the leading of The Holy Spirit who comes in the form of that small still voice that asks if what we are about to do, say, or are thinking glorifies GOD. Are our thoughts and life choices leading us forward and reflecting growth or are they showing stagnation and regression? The children of Israel had been set free from 400 years of mental and physical slavery. For GOD to renew their minds and create an appreciation for where they were going, He had to lead them down a path that was undesirable in many ways. But even then, and no matter what it looked like, the road was leading them forward and they were still moving towards the promise. It would have been a great loss and a pity had they chosen to plant gardens in the wilderness and settle there, considering how marvelous GOD’s plans were for them. It is very possible to miss the best GOD has in store for us when we start believing the wilderness of our lives is what we deserved and all that we were worth. After all, life will always be faithful enough to give us more of what we accept. Good or bad.

” So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.“ ‭‭Joel‬ ‭2‬:‭25‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. Maybe some of that restoration looks like GOD-ordained dreams being restored. The courage to desire and walk in the best GOD has to offer being restored. Trust in His love and mercy being restored. And above all else, our relationship with HIM being restored. Because without us knowing the Father, we can never believe that He is truly with us in all that we pass through and that He has a divine purpose that is rooted in His deep love for us and is perfectly knitted in every experience we face. We must know HIM in order to trust HIM in all things and in all situations.

It is very possible to miss the best GOD has in store for us when we start believing the wilderness of our lives is what we deserved and all that we were worth
