”Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other Name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12 BSB
”There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love.“ – 1 John 4:18 BSB
In the most famous and most well-known verse in the Bible, John 3:16, the Word of GOD tells us that, because of His great love for humanity, He sent His one and only begotten son, that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. And in 1 John 4:8, we are told that GOD is love. This tells me that GOD’s love is perfect because it flows from Who He is (the perfect GOD). This further tells me that everything that He has done for us is perfect. ”But GOD proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.“ Romans 5:8 BSB. He loved us and died for us while we were still sinners, how much more now that we are His sons and daughters?
We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19), we are able to now love GOD and love each other with the same perfect love that He has poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). It is not something that we can do with our own might, and it’s also something that we grow in (2 Peter 1:5-8), He keeps pouring as we grow and are continually being filled by His Holy Spirit. The more we grow into this perfect love, the more we will love the people who we think are unlovable, and the less fear of judgment we will have.
Everything we do for GOD should be done out of love and not fear. We serve GOD and we obey GOD because we love Him. If we do these out of fear, it’s only a matter of time before we give up and consider ourselves unworthy. It starts with knowing who we are in Christ and what Christ has done for us to be, “the righteousness of GOD in Christ Jesus”. Righteousness is a position, not what we do and don’t do to either, earn GOD’s approval or escape punishment. Once we know who we are and what has been achieved for us by Jesus on the cross, everything that we do will be driven by love. The perfect love of GOD.
Everything we do for GOD should be done out of love and not fear. We serve GOD and we obey GOD because we love Him
