”And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in GOD and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of GOD’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.“ – 1 Corinthians 13:13 AMP
Love is by far the most powerful force that ever was and ever will be. Heaven and Earth were created in, through, and by love. The creator of love is Love Himself and there is absolutely nothing He does that is not driven by love. The Bible even goes so far as to say all these things we value so much will cease and only love will remain, ”Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.“ 1 Corinthians 13:8 NIV. This is how deep and incredible this powerful force is.
Numerous poems, songs, and books have been written exploring the concept extensively, but I believe nothing on earth can effectively describe love except one feels it for themselves. When the Holy Spirit gives us a glimpse of what GOD’s love feels like, it becomes by far the most humbling experience one can go through. In that moment you know that there is nothing of yourself you would not give in order to honor GOD, by you yourself demonstrating the love He has poured into you to the next person. Only love inspires us to want to be better, do better, and give of ourselves, and this is where the unmatched wisdom of GOD shows us how He truly thought of everything where we are concerned.
Whether we experience Him through marriage or friendship or church and everything in between, all the relationships we find ourselves in should ideally be an opportunity for us to experience GOD and for us to demonstrate Him to others. The enemy has perverted so much of what should come naturally because it is imbedded in us, that we have started thinking of and seeing love as a sign of weakness and being foolish. Yet the opportunity to be vulnerable is a priceless chance for us to discover what GOD’s perfect grace and mercy look and feel like. As much as the world does not believe perfect love exists, the truth is it does exist but deep within us. Our fear of rejection unfortunately has forced us to measure just how much of it we think the next person deserves. I am inclined to believe that the only people who still demonstrate close to perfect love are children, hence why GOD reminds us that, ”unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.“ Matthew 18:3 NKJV. Which is to say, we will not experience GOD and heaven on earth. And anyone who has ever truly been in love can testify to it being by far the greatest feeling and experience one can go through, especially because suddenly EVERYTHING around you seems beautiful.
