“After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” – Genesis 15:1 NKJV
The Levites were a special people, in that, GOD set them apart from everyone else and decided they would be the ones with the honor of serving Him. They were not allowed to fend for themselves, and all their provision came from the LORD. They weren’t allowed to receive gifts directly from the people of Israel. Their provider was the LORD Himself. As a result, they devoted themselves to serving GOD without the distraction of pursuing riches and prosperity. They were a perfect example of how complete devotion to the LORD has tangible rewards. Their minds weren’t preoccupied with earthly desires, but the only preoccupation was service.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of GOD, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33 KJV). Matthew 6:26-27, talks about how the birds go on about their business without a care in the world, yet the LORD provides for them. They are fulfilling the purpose they were created for, and as a result, GOD provides for them. I don’t know about you but I have never ever seen a skinny, malnourished bird. I believe this is because they are fully immersed in fulfilling the purpose they were created for. I truly believe GOD’s blessings and prosperity are attracted to purpose and plan. It’s not a coincidence that in our church, the people who used to testify the most were those who served wholeheartedly. When you are busy about GOD’s business, He will also be busy about your provision. This is why the Bible tells us to seek the Kingdom and all shall be added to us.
“Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything”( Luke 5:5a NIV). Like Peter and his colleagues, we also may be toiling and frustrated by lack of movement in our pursuits and endeavors. We have, and are still trying, everything to catch fish our own way. It is only when we have come to the end of ourselves and offer up our labor/business/efforts to serving GOD and being submitted to his divine plan, only then can He instruct us where to cast our nets. For it is GOD that gives the power to create wealth, not our earthly wisdom or connections. This, I believe, is how we will attain all the blessings that GOD has prepared for us.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2 NKJV). It’s GOD’s desire and will for us to prosper in all areas of our lives, not just Spiritual. Up until we are fully submitted to His plan and will, we will never taste this prosperity. Like Peter, we also have to serve the purpose before we are told where to cast our nets.
It is only when we have come to the end of ourselves and offer up our labor/business/efforts to serving GOD and being submitted to his divine plan, only then can He instruct us where to cast our nets.
