“It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. Then a voice came from heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”” – Mark 1:9-11 NKJV
Jesus Christ came to this earth and dwelt among the people as GOD completely and fully man. I’m often amazed at what it must have been like for Him growing up knowing that not only did He have a divine calling upon His life here on earth, but He was GOD Himself and capable of things beyond any human comprehension. But even with all that knowledge and power existing in Him, He did not flaunt His abilities and His ministry did not begin until the Spirit of GOD came upon Him and confirmed Him as His Beloved Son.
As children of GOD who have given their lives to Christ, we are filled with the Holy Spirit Who transforms us into the image of His Son Jesus Christ and He gives us His heart and mind. However, when His Spirit comes upon us, only then are we empowered for the works of ministry and we begin to display the supernatural works of GOD. “For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of GOD.” – Romans 8:19 ESV. This dark world is in desperate need of the light of GOD that can only come from His children. We are not only called to minister His Word but to also demonstrate His power through the gifts that He has given each and every single one of us. There are those in the world who will not be moved by what we say, but will only be won over to Christ when they see His power manifesting through us.
“The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.” – Isaiah 60:3 NKJV. We must arise and shine, so that others will be drawn to the glorious light of GOD in and upon us. This light cannot and should never be hidden, for we have a mandate to shine His light in a world that is in desperate need for hope and freedom. We carry the answers that many out there are seeking, and hiding what we have received is robbing the world of the gifts GOD has given freely. May we not be deceived into thinking that Shrinking ourselves is a sign of humility. It is in fact just another form of disobedience hidden in cowardice. Our calling is how we honor GOD and express our true and sincere love for Him.
