A light that shines in a dark place – 2 Peter 1:19.
Apostle Peter reveals prophecy to us as a light that shines in a dark place. This is a powerful imagery. This is what a prophetic word is and does. When there’s darkness concerning the will of the Lord, prophecy brings illumination, direction and guidance. The word is a potent tool in the kingdom. Sometimes we take it for granted that we know what the will of the Lord is concerning a particular area in our life. But it’s not so, until His word for that area becomes known or revealed. God speaks in specifics, we cannot take the logos and apply it across the board in blanket fashion.
Our Master Jesus has taught us that man shall not live by food alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. That’s not logos or the general written word, but an inspired, fresh, now word of God. Oh, this is glorious! The prophetic word that brings a flood of light in areas of darkness concerning what God says and wants right now. We need to seek the Father for this word, His fresh, daily manna to us. The Bible becomes our critical partner in this regard. The Message frames it this way, “By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.” The prophetic word throws a beam of light to our path, keeps us from stumbling and leads us to a place of His abundant blessing, prosperity, protection and victory.
