Lift Others Up

Lift Others Up

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others – Philippians 2:3-4.

Before you ask why someone else is being used instead of you, consider that maybe they are the best person for the job. We all want to be the best, and with Christ living in us we sure are the best in many respects, but if a brother is chosen over you for a “post” that you were eyeing, put yourself at peace by considering that just maybe they were better suited and fashioned by God for that particular task and not you.

You have to remember that you don’t know everything that God is doing, and while the idea of you is glorious, there are a million other Christians who are just as dynamic as you are, and the sooner you accept them as God’s children and vessels useful for His purpose, the sooner you will be at rest and peaceful.

Romans 14:4 “Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.” People belong to God, and He is a good God, He has grandeurous plans for all our lives. The people you don’t want God wants, and He wants you to deal with your envy and pride because He wants us to live at peace and in unity with one another as His children.

We owe each other one thing and one thing only, love. Love is not self seeking, in and through love we will lift one another up isntead of seeking our own, ‘looking out for ourselves’ as it were. It’s an ungodly way of thinking for a child of God, you don’t look out for yourself, you look out for others. If you don’t get to eat, so be it, as long as your brothers are satisfied.

God doesn’t look as man looks, He has His own divine criteria for appointing apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors (or “shepherds”) and teachers. Because you are carnal, instead of thinking ‘she was chosen because of her education’ think ‘maybe she will drive the message across better because of her education’, instead of thinking ‘he was chosen because he is rich’ think ‘he would support this ministry sufficiently because of his resources’. But we know the spiritual person by their fruit, they love everything God loves, they support whomever the Lord chooses!
