So above all, guard the affections of your heart, for they affect all that you are. Pay attention to the welfare of your innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life – Proverbs 4:23 TPT.
I remember when I first got saved, I walked into Christianity with Jeremiah 29:11 and I was so excited about the wonderful and prosperous plans God has for my life, I couldn’t wait for the big house and the big cars. I had to learn quickly that God is more interested in healing and the well being of my inner man than He is in my external prosperity.
In 3 John 1:2 the writer prays that we prosper in all things and be in good health even as our soul prospers, this further drives home that spiritual prosperity is just as, if not more, important as outward prosperity. In Mark 8:36 we are poised with a question, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
The greatest miracle in Christianity is what God can do on the inside of a person while prospering that person THROUGH that transformed heart or innermost being. Let us allow God to do a work in us, the rest will be added not as a reward for good behavior but by His grace.
