As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one – Romans 3:10.
The word of God tells us in another place that all our righteousness is like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6), which means our own righteousness or works of the flesh cannot stand before God. I thank God for the blood of Jesus, the Righteous One, the sinless Lamb of God, who took away all our sins that now we are able to stand before God but only by the finished work of the Cross.
As Christians we often get caught up in the trap of trying to please God with our good behavior, and that only comes with expectations or a sense of entitlement – God I’ve been behaving, can I have this or that. It is this very behavior that leads to pride and as the word of God tells us, pride comes before the fall. The opposite is also true, when we go through stuff after behaving so well, we then begin to accuse God saying “Why am I going through this? What did I do wrong?” Our righteousness is in Christ, ours is to seek Him, His Kingdom and His righteousness, and God WILL add good things (Matthew 6:33), not because of us but because of Him.
“Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives. [All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,” Romans 3:23-24 AMPC. Let us be found in Him that even as we are being sanctified, He may receive all the glory.
Our righteousness is in Christ, ours is to seek Him, His Kingdom and righteousness, and God WILL add good things
