And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people – Exodus 13:21-22.
This has to be one of my favorite Scriptures in the Bible. The way God operated while leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land really fascinates me, especially this specific passage. It says that God was leading the children of Israel by a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire during the night. Now it is important to note that there were no two different pillars, one of a cloud by day and another of fire by night. No, there was one pillar. That pillar appeared as a cloud by the day and as fire by night.
This to me says that the Lord was very much aware of the needs of the children of Israel, seasonally. He knew the fire could not benefit them during the day because it’s already scorching hot in the desert. He knew the cloud could not benefit them in the coldness of the night. So, He relevantly provided them with what they needed at each specific moment. God is a relevant God. He knows exactly what we need to get through each season of our lives whether good or bad.
For every season, He provides grace and enablement for us to get by. In good times and bad, our Lord walks with us, making His help abundantly available to us, no matter what we have to face. The word of God says He is our very present help in times of need (Psalm 46:1). So why then should we fear? He knows what we are going through, He knows what we need and He will relevantly provide us with the grace or enablement to get through it all.
Our God knows exactly what we need to get through each season of our lives
