Give thanks to the God of Heaven, for his gracious love is everlasting – Psalm 136:26 ISV.
The greatest, most heart-warming truth in the Bible is the truth of the love of God. Back in school when I was doing Psychology, we were taught that one of the greatest human needs is the need to be loved. There is something settling in knowing that someone loves you. When you know that someone loves you, you know that they prioritize you, they want only the best for you, they care for you, they always have your back and there is nothing they cannot possibly do for you. All these things tend to bring about settlement, joy and peace in one’s life. The results that come about being loved often give us confidence in the ones that love us.
If this is so in the world, among imperfect individuals who are mostly incapable of giving perfect love, how is it with our perfect God who gives perfect love? I strongly believe that faithlessness and doubt are as a result of us not fully comprehending just how much God loves us. The word of God says, “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him,” Matthew 7:11. If you know that your parent, spouse, sibling, etc. loves you, it’s easy for you to believe that they will stop at nothing to make you happy.
God’s love, unlike that of men, is perfect and unconditional, and knowing this is our key to liberty. If you really know that God loves you, you will have confidence in Him. You would know that there’s nothing He wouldn’t do for you. You would rest assured that your every need will be catered for. You would know that your each and every prayer is heard and answered. God loves you, that is all you might ever need to know.
