The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever – Isaiah 40:8 NKJV.
We live in an era where our opinions and what we regard as the norm are influenced by the current status quo. What was morally unacceptable a decade ago is now standard practice. What we thought was a benchmark then is now considered ancient.
With such a constantly evolving belief system I find comfort in the knowledge that GOD is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). That His word, promises and principles are the same yesterday, today and forever. He is a GOD who wants a relationship with me. He promised to never leave nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6). “Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident,” Psalm 27:3.
“The LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore,” Psalm 121:8. All these promises are real today just as they were thousands of years ago. His watching over my life is not influenced by the current status quo. “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name,” Psalm 91:14. My part is to remain in the vine and these promises of GOD for me and my loved ones will come to pass. He is not man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19).
All I need to do is to read His word so that I may know these promises for myself and that when the time comes for me to fight for them I may be fully equipped to do so (Ephesians 6:17), that I may bring a nuclear bomb (the word) to a knife fight.
