Ref Isaiah 54:1-3
Faith relies on what GOD says. For faith to act on the word of God, the word has to be known. The essence of faith is to believe before you have, to speak what you don’t have as though you already have it, to say what GOD says about you and your situation. In Mark 11:14 Jesus cursed the fig tree, but He spoke out so audibly that His disciples heard Him. He didn’t mumble, He spoke clearly and audibly to a tree.
This is the same Jesus who spoke to the elements, inanimate things, rebuked and calmed them. He spoke to things and situations. As a person of faith and imitator of Jesus speak the word of GOD, which is a word of faith, to your sickness, pain, torment, debt, stagnation, failure, worry, stress, depression, etc.
Faith is a paradox, a contradiction. It contracts what is for what is hoped for or desired. It contracts the seen for what is yet unseen. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith requires obedience, and obedience requires faith. Faith believes before it has or sees, obedience does before it understands. Faith without obedience is dead.
So the essence of faith is to believe before you have, and the essence of obedience is to do before you understand. When we act on faith and obedience we receive what GOD says. We should not be hearers only, but doers of the word. Believing without doing is useless. Faith and obedience equal results.
The essence of faith is to say what GOD says about you and your situation
