Moenie Bang Wees Nie!

Do not be afraid – I am with you! I am your God – let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you – Isaiah 41:10 GNB.

We’re living in the last of the last days, these are perilous times.  Anxiety, fear and panic have descended upon people. 365 times, we are told, the Bible says ‘Do not be afraid’. In Psalm 121 it says that ‘the LORD shall preserve you from all evil’. This is true, so all the people who know their GOD are free from the plague of fear and panic. In Psalm 91 the Bible says though tens of thousands of people die around you, it shall not come near you – you will not die the same death!

What about Psalm 91 verse 3 that says categorically the LORD shall deliver you from the perilous pestilence? It clearly states that GOD will protect His people from perilous, deadly, fatal diseases, epidemics or pandemics – such as the world now faces. True children of GOD are not afraid because they know they enjoy His promised ever-present protection from all evil. However, Christians who are living in fear make themselves vulnerable to all kinds of evil, including what has now come to be known as COVID-19.

Fear is a spirit. It opens the door for satan to attack you. Anxiety, fear or panic can make a person irrational, in some instances, even delusional. Fear is not reality! We walk by faith, and not by sight; facts and figures. Sight means what we hear, see, smell, touch or taste; the five senses. Christians are reading, watching and listening every day for the latest number of people who have been diagnosed with the Novel Coronavirus. They are walking by sight, and not by faith. This is anti-GOD. Are we really now going to live our lives by facts and figures – and not by faith in the GOD of the Bible?

The faith of many is being exposed now in these times. The Word says, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified.” Disqualified concerning faith in GOD. All Israel cringed away from Goliath in fear. Will you also in this time cringe away and hide yourself in fear of a virus? You have read real-life accounts of David, Daniel and the three Hebrew boys, among others, and were motivated by them. You see, faith is more than motivation, it’s the stuff that conquers the world and the devil who rules the world.

“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you,” Isaiah 60:1-2. ‘And deep darkness the people’ worse is still coming, epidemics, pandemics, diseases, etc. In the midst of it, the Spirit says, “But the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.” You cannot glorify GOD when you are anxious, afraid, panicky and shrink away to cover like the rest of the world. Those upon whom the LORD shall glorify Himself and who will glory Him – will run and charge towards Goliath with a Stone of faith in their hand. Our Christian mandate is to overcome, conquer, defeat whatever is not of GOD in the world, and not run away from it, ‘and whoever is born of God overcomes the world’ (1 John 5:4).

What are you born of? Fear, defeat and cowardice? Are you not born of the indestructible, incorruptible seed which is the word of GOD (1 Peter 1:23)? Crisis always has a way of revealing our true spiritual nature. Jesus says one who puts his hand to the plow and run away in time of crisis is not fit for the kingdom of GOD. True children of GOD shine brightest in darkness.

Will you also in this time cringe away and hide yourself in fear of a virus?
