“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 11: 3 KJV
It is without a doubt that the world around us is getting increasingly complex, and perhaps it is because it is drifting further and further away from GOD. Christianity seems to be getting more complicated and we seem to be drifting back to religion. I always say that I believe Christianity was never meant to be hard, I do not believe that GOD ever intended for us to struggle in our walk with Him. The biggest error that we have made as Christians is that as the world around us becomes more and more complex, we start to think that there is something else that is needed for our salvation, for our life of faith, apart from Christ, and by so doing we have denied Christ.
I was sharing this with one of the Pastor’s at church, that the sufficiency of Christ is undermined by a lot of Christians unknowingly by seeking things that can help Him to help us. I even said, perhaps it’s the fact that most of us transition from our traditional ways to Christianity. Traditionally, one would go consult with a “seer” for whatever issue they might have and would, without fail, come back with something to either drink, eat, paste in the house and so forth and that thing would help solve all their issues. Moving to Christianity however you then discover that Christ is all you need, you have been introduced to the faith and suddenly the tangible things don’t matter. Maybe this life just becomes too good to be true to us, or too foreign to comprehend. We then begin to seek for more than just Christ, something we can perhaps see or touch.
Christ alone is enough for us and if there is anything that we need to build our faith on is His sufficiency. There is nothing in this world that men can do that can aid or assist GOD to be GOD. We live in a time, in a day when there is great doubt cast upon the sufficiency of Jesus Christ when Jesus Christ appears to be something you add to what you already have or something you get in order to add to what you already have. The simplicity of Christianity is in knowing that Christ is all you need whether it be for healing, deliverance, breakthrough, or for manifesting your calling or your gifts. Your obedience to Christ is the only thing that will take you from one glory to the next and nothing else. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
