Holy Spirit: The Spirit of Servanthood

Holy Spirit: The Spirit of Servanthood

“The one who manages the little he has been given with faithfulness and integrity will be promoted and trusted with greater responsibilities. But those who cheat with the little they have been given will not be considered trustworthy to receive more.” – Luke 16:10 TPT

We have been given a short time here on earth to faithfully manage what we’ve been entrusted with for both earthly and heavenly promotion. When we serve GOD with our gifts, time, and possessions, He promotes us and our heavenly account also grows. In the new Heaven and earth, we will reign with Christ (Revelation 20:6) but it is in the now that determines how much we will be entrusted with. Jesus is our example and He came to serve and give His life as a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28) and if He’s our example, shouldn’t we strive to do the same?

GOD’s love was put into action when He gave us His Son (John 3:16) and today we love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Love is expressed through action, this action in the kingdom is service, service as a lifestyle in every area of our daily lives. Blessings shouldn’t be our motivator to serve, but love should because we’ve already been given every spiritual blessing and as sons and children of God, our blessings are already freely given (Ephesians 1:3). Since GOD has already given us everything and held nothing back, should we not reciprocate that love?

“This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us. We too, then, ought to give our lives for our brothers and sisters! My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.” (1 John 3:16, 18 GNB). We’re closest to Jesus when we are serving because the Spirit of Jesus is the Spirit of servanthood. We must start where we are, be found trustworthy with the little that we’ve been entrusted with so that we may be found trustworthy for promotion, He has equipped and empowered us with His Holy Spirit to do the good works already prepared for us (2 Peter 1:3).

We’re closest to Jesus when we are serving because the Spirit of Jesus is the Spirit of servanthood
