Are You Dead Yet?

Are You Dead Yet?

Sunday Message Summary, 1 November 2020

The LORD Jesus walked in signs, miracles, and wonders; however, He never did anything according to Himself, but depended 100% on the Holy Spirit (John 5:30).  In order for Jesus to successfully fulfil His mission on Earth, He had to listen to GOD. Similarly, for us to do what Christ has sent us to do, it has to be the power of GOD working in us. This same power of GOD worked in and through the Apostle Paul, but for that to happen, the old Paul who was in the flesh had to die first. Jesus died that we may live, but in order for Christ to live in us we have to die (Galatians 2:20).

GOD wants us to successfully fulfil the purpose for which He sent us here on Earth. Right where we are, where we find ourselves, where GOD has planted us, we are ministers. We however need to make room for the Holy Spirit to work in and through us. For us to work effectively, we must be like Christ, and we need the covering, protection, and mind of the Holy Spirit. The seven sons of Sceva were not recognised by the evil spirit they tried to exorcise, because the evil spirit only knew Jesus and those in His image, but the sons of Sceva were illegitimate sons (Acts 19:11-15).  It is only when there is nothing left of ourselves, that the Holy Spirit and power can dwell in us, growing us in the image of Christ.

If we come in our own authority and own power, we will continue being defeated, so the only way we can move in the power to succeed is when the power of the Holy Spirit works in and through us. However, since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, we need to keep this temple clean (2 Corinthians 6:16). The Holy Spirit and power cannot dwell in a temple that still has idols, i.e., anything in our lives that we esteem higher than Christ. When we become obsessed with ourselves, we become powerless, but when we love Christ, doing what He says, we become like Him. In order for us to keep the temple of the Holy Spirit holy, we must then become like the Apostle Paul, who beat his body and brought it into submission. So precious is the Holy Spirit & power!

Jesus died that we may live, but in order for Christ to live in us we have to die.
