“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” – Acts 1:8a
In the past week, during our Holy Spirit and Power series we learned that the kingdom of God is not based on mere talk but on power (1 Corinthians 4:20). We discovered that it is not enough that we preach about Christ, but our preaching of Him should be accompanied by assuring miracles, signs, and wonders. But, how exactly do we begin to walk in the light of this knowledge? How do we tap into this power? How do we position ourselves to move in God’s power for performing these signs, miracles, and wonders as expected of us? It is impossible for one to access or tap into the power of God unless they have been filled and are walking with the Holy Spirit, it is only after one is filled with the Holy Spirit that they can fully exercise their GOD given power (Acts 2).
There is undeniable, extraordinary power available to all believers, power that can accomplish far more than we ordinarily think or imagine and it only comes by the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit means living a life guided by the Holy Spirit, a life of holiness and godliness, a life not surrendered to the desires of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). The flesh is the old human nature that does not relish the things of GOD and prefers to get satisfaction from worldly pleasures. As we walk in the Spirit, our craving for sin and desire to spend time in the world and walk in its ways lessens. As the craving for the world lessens, the power of God in us comes to full effect. So if you want to know how you can tap into the power of God, how to witness through signs, miracles and wonders then your answer is very simple, you just need the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit who supplies everything we need to live a godly life, a life that is a manifestation of God’s power.
