“In the past God tolerated our ignorance of these things, but now the time of deception has passed away. He commands us all to repent and turn to God.” – Acts 17:30 TPT
There is this saying that says that “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result every time.” I always remember this saying every time we cross over into a new year because I acknowledge that there are some things that I’ve been doing that I don’t want to take into the new year because they will only yield the same results as in the previous year. The LORD told the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 2:3 that they had circled the mountain long enough and that they should turn northward. GOD loves us too much to leave us in our mess and in our destructive cycles, so much so that He has given us the gift of repentance for us to go in the direction that He wants us to go.
“This means that, contrary to man’s perspective, the Lord is not late with his promise to return, as some measure lateness. But rather, his “delay” simply reveals his loving patience toward you, because he does not want any to perish but all to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 TPT). GOD is patient with us, but you have to think that when GOD is talking about repentance, that we have to pay attention and align. Just like the tribe of Issachar, we have to understand the signs of the times and know what action is required of us (1 Chronicles 12:32). The word of the Lord is clear, we must pay attention to the voice of the Holy Spirit and put things right.
It is late in the hour, the LORD is soon coming, and we won’t have an excuse because He has been speaking to us. Let us not be like the people of the time of Noah, the flood came and swept them away because they did not know or understand (Matthew 24:37-39). These are unprecedented times that we are living in, we need to wise up as children of God and discern the times we are living in. This is the time that GOD is calling us to repentance and to turn back to Him, don’t let 2021 be a repeat of previous years, that would be insanity.
