Our Words Carry Power!

“Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.” – Proverbs 13:3

Believing in GOD and His Word is a wonderful thing however in His Word, Jesus urges us to do more than just believing. He asks of us to do one more thing, which is to speak the word of faith, to verbalize what we are seeking from Him. In Mark 11: 23, the Word of God says; “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” We see in this specific passage of Scripture that faith in GOD is not in us just believing in our hearts but also in confessing with our mouths what we believe. In 1 John 5 the Word says; “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked for. In faith we believe, we ask and then we receive.”

A believer, who understands the power of speaking the Word of God with boldness and faith “shall have whatsoever he saith”. The book of Genesis is proof enough that words are powerful. The creation of everything on earth was through “words”. GOD spoke and things became. It is up to us how we decide to use our words. If we confess good, good will come to us, and the opposite is also true. GOD hears us and grants us according to our confession so we must really be careful of the words that come out of our mouths. That is why the Word of God says we ought to be slow in our speech because even in the words spoken in ignorance, the power we carry in us still brings to pass the words spoken. With our words, we can build ourselves and those around us up, and with our words, we can also destroy them. So it is of great importance that we are mindful of each and every word that comes out of our mouths because we carry the power to create with our words. Our hearts and minds should always be in line with the Word of God as what comes out of our mouths is but a manifestation of what is in our hearts.
