“As a man thinks in his heart so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7
There is something about the above proverb that cannot be overlooked. There is a dilemma that often befalls most of us as children of God and the dilemma is that who we are on the inside and what we say on the outside, doesn’t always line up. If we look at the Pharisees, for example, they were very good at presenting themselves as very devout, religious people, yet Jesus called them hypocrites. This was because the thoughts and inclinations of their hearts were no way in line with what their mouths were confessing. Our thoughts as children of God are what shape the reality of who we are, they influence our actions. That’s why what you think about matters because it is forming the basis of who you eventually do or become.
It is important for us to understand that a person’s “mindset” ties in with their faith. If your mind says no to something, then your faith will not be activated. Thoughts are very powerful, they have creative ability. There is no way a person can have a positive, exciting life while having a negative mind. If you struggle with negative thinking, you need to come to grips with the fact that your life won’t change until your thinking does. In the book of Philippians 4 verse 8, the word of God encourages us to occupy our minds with only what is right. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things”. A mind of faith is fixed on GOD, on the truthfulness of His word, on His promises. A mind of faith does not reason facts, situations or circumstances but it simply believes because of what GOD has said. GOD is calling us to set our minds on things above and what we set our minds on will eventually shape us, it will manifest, it will become our reality. Learn to trust in GOD, regardless of what your circumstance may be, His word says that He works all things together for our good after all.
