Subtraction Equals Multiplication, Loco?

Subtraction Equals Multiplication, Loco?

“And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” – 1 Samuel 1:11 NIV

It’s that issue again, giving and offering. Some even cringe when the issue of money is brought up again. They are probably thinking, what Italian suits are they trying to buy now? One thing I’ve learned in my short walk with the LORD is that the enemy attacks principles in the Kingdom because he understands their long-term implications. People who are now blessed often forget two very important scriptures relating to finances, James 1:17 and Deuteronomy 8:18. Every good thing that I own was given to me by GOD and these assets that I have accumulated are as a result of the power that He gave me to accumulate them. When we understand this principle we cannot struggle with giving what we do not own but that which we are stewards of. GOD cannot require you to give what He has not provided beforehand (He isn’t manic). There is a challenge going around where people thank themselves for working hard, they believe they are the ones responsible for their own success. This is when they start storing up their treasures on earth, instead of storing them in Heaven (Matthew 6:19).

Hannah is one person who understood the principle of giving, and she applied it in her life. She only wanted one blessing from the LORD. It was thee most important thing that she needed and yet was ready to surrender it to the LORD. Let us put this into perspective, It’s like me fasting and praying for a month and trusting GOD for a mansion in Eagle Canyon Golf Estate, then offer the same house to the Church after receiving it. To take your absolute best and give it as an offering of sacrifice. Most of us receive our blessing and struggle to surrender ten percent of it, yet this woman gave the whole hundred percent (loco right?). It was so precious that she felt GOD could use it better than her, He deserved it more. The ultimate form of sacrifice and giving, where you do not withhold anything but understand that what is most precious to you is also worthy for the LORD. It was the same sacrifice Abraham was willing to make. Surrendering that which is most precious to you and offering it and giving it away. Like Job, these people understood that every good and perfect gift is from the LORD, they were just stewards.

Christ gave His life as an offering and in the process received abundance (Christians). Abraham was willing to surrender his son and in the process got many offspring. GOD offered his only Son and received us as an inheritance. The principle of giving is so fundamental that even GOD applied it as well. Then why are we struggling to follow suit? Why is the enemy attacking this principle? We struggle and hold on to “our” possessions out of fear of losing them yet we have been stuck at the same spot for years. And in the process, we blame GOD for our stagnation. Someone once said that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is madness. I think it’s time we take a leap of faith and venture into the “unknown”, let’s give.

GOD offered his only Son and received us as an inheritance. The principle of giving is so fundamental that even GOD applied it as well
