“Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on GOD, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and He will deliver us again. On Him we have set our hope that He will continue to deliver us,” – 2 Corinthians 1:9-10 NIV
Have you noticed that sometimes it looks like ever since you’ve been a true Christian things are just getting worse every day? When you were lukewarm things seemed to just effortlessly fall into place and it seemed like you were turning up every day. You then decided to give yourself fully to the Kingdom and that’s when your plans just hit a nasty pothole and you had to take an unscheduled off-ramp.
“And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.” (Mark 3:26 NIV). The truth is that when we were dabbling in the things of the world we were unknowingly serving satan. Now that we have come into the light he has no choice but to attack and try to convince us that we belong to him, it’s like an abusive husband refusing to let go of his ex-wife. Christ taught us that in the world we will encounter problems, yet assured us that we will always be ok. He encouraged us to take comfort in that He overcame the world. The same Spirit in Him that overcame is the same One that is in us, the same Spirit that to this day is still at work. It’s this treasure that makes our victory inevitable even when we are facing impossible odds.
Like Christ during the crucifixion when it seemed like His enemies were winning, our victory is inevitable and the foe that is celebrating now will be shut down later. It’s not a matter of whether it will happen, it’s a matter of when it happens. Like Apostle Paul in the above scripture, some of us our troubles happen so that we may learn to depend on GOD, and Him alone. When we have situations that our fellow brethren have no influence on and only GOD can come through for us. When the corpse has been rotting away for three days and all experts have given up, when we have come to the end of ourselves and have completely surrendered everything, only then can this situation give glory to GOD. It’s when you have gone through these things that you can then confidently quote verse ten of the above scripture (2 Corinthians 1:10). It’s when you have already defeated the bear and the lion, only then can you put all your hopes in GOD when the Philistine is before you.
It’s those that have overcome through GOD who know that they will always win in life when GOD is involved. They have confidence and can still praise during the storm. They are the ones whom scriptures like James 1:2 and Romans 8:28 have come to life. They know that even though it may seem like this hurricane is destroying everything in its path, their property will be unscathed.
It’s those that have overcome through GOD who know that they will always win in life when GOD is involved
