“The wisdom I proclaim is God’s secret wisdom, which is hidden from human beings, but which he had already chosen for our glory even before the world was made.” – 1 Corinthians 2:7 GNT
Back in the days when we were still in the world, we used to love (maybe it was just me) being in the know. When you had hot gossip that few people were privy to. When you knew something others didn’t know and you just let them speculate and it excited you that If only they knew what you know. When people eventually found out, you then came out and disclosed that you knew the secret all along. The above portion of Scripture is one of my favorites because it reveals how special I am as a Christian to be in the know about GOD’s ultimate secrets. The creator of Heaven and earth deemed me worthy to be in the know, revealed His divine mysteries to me. The people on earth are forever pursuing wisdom and understanding in vain because these things are revealed only through the Spirit.
“But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means” (1 Corinthians 2: 14 NLT). It’s like Holy Spirit is my confidential informant giving me an exclusive in-depth interview about the mysteries of the universe. This wisdom only comes from GOD and is reserved for the few, reserved even before creation. The natural man can’t understand them because to him it’s foolishness and we are “brainwashed” for believing such.
This is why Proverbs 2:4 instructs us to search for wisdom as for hidden treasure, look for it as for silver. Yet most of us are busy looking for the silver itself without wisdom. Proverbs 3:1-2 then commands us to never forget its teachings for they will prolong our lives and bring us prosperity. Joshua’s first mandate was to never let the book depart from his mouth as its teachings will avail wisdom that will lead and successfully guide him into prosperity. There are countless scriptures (eg Proverbs 3:13) that talk about how essential God’s wisdom is and how we should prioritize it above everything else. This is why James instructs us to ask for it and why he knew GOD would never say no to us because it was destined for us before creation. “Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her (Proverbs 3:15 NLT)”. What more motivation do we require than this? This scripture is self-explanatory and Solomon probably would have dropped his mic (if there was one) and left the stage after saying this. This is what we ought to be pursuing as only this has the key to unlock everything GOD has promised us. There is no other key but this one.
Wisdom is what we ought to be pursuing as only wisdom has the key to unlocking everything GOD has promised us
