The Most Important Thing (Part 2)

The Most Important Thing (Part 2)

Sunday Message Summary, 18 April 2021

Wealth, prosperity, and success are the perfect will of GOD for every believer, but we obtain these by wisdom (Proverbs 8:20-21). None of us can labor for the things of GOD because the things of GOD are given by grace, without effort. The grace of GOD wants to make us from the bottom up, but when there are people that we fashion ourselves after, we negate the grace of GOD. It is wisdom who causes those who love her to obtain wealth, riches and honor. It is the manner of man to ask for riches, money, and blessings of GOD, but when afforded the opportunity, Solomon asked for wisdom instead, not for himself, but to lead the people of GOD in righteousness and in a way that is pleasing to GOD. Though Solomon did not ask for wealth and honor, GOD gave them to him, because He was pleased with what Solomon asked for (1 Kings 3:9-13). Even with the level of knowledge he had of GOD at the time, Solomon did not assume, and he was therefore a product of the grace of GOD, & not of his self-effort. When we assume we know and can, we negate and reject the grace of GOD that has been lavishly bestowed upon us.

“For whoever finds me [wisdom] finds life and obtains favor from the Lord” – Proverbs 8:35. How then can we find wisdom? Wisdom comes by and through the Holy Spirit to us (Proverbs 1:23). Furthermore, if we ask for wisdom, GOD will give it abundantly and bestow it lavishly upon us (James 1:5). The Word of God also has transforming power, making us wise (Psalm 19:7). Without God’s knowledge, wisdom and understanding, we are totally and completely out of depth, but it is not those who seek GOD casually, but those who seek Him as though their lives depended on it who will find Him (Proverbs 8:17). Mature Christians do not assume, never taking the grace of GOD in vain, and they know that there will never ever come a point where they know and understand as they ought. Mature believers are in church in good times and bad, knowing that there is something greater that GOD has laid up for them that they have not attained. Immature believers on the other hand, believe they have already arrived, and only remember to seek GOD when they have a pressing need. They who have wisdom, knowledge and understanding from Heaven are known by their humility.

There is a contrast between godly and human wisdom, and there are many people whose salvation is based on human wisdom and are thus walking amiss. The power of GOD only comes with the wisdom that is from GOD; only by fundamental, intermediate, and advanced revelation. Preaching with words of human wisdom cannot yield God’s power (1 Corinthians 2:4-8). We therefore cannot speak wisdom of this world in the church, but only revelation. We cannot teach the things of GOD with man’s wisdom, and the wisdom/things of GOD can only be taught by and through the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:13). This is where the conversion, transformation, and change of heart of a human life begins. Everything we do, we must refer to the Bible – that is the only benchmark.

The manifold wisdom of GOD has been entrusted to the church to find out and to reveal (Ephesians 3:10). Whatever we know and think we understand, we do not know nor understand as we ought to, so when we do not search beyond and deeper, it shows that we lack understanding, and we lack wisdom. Why would GOD want to give the mysteries and secrets of His Kingdom, & the unsearchable riches of Jesus Christ while we are here on Earth? The LORD is calling out and inviting us to another realm of life, which is the realm of His perfect will.

When we assume we know and can, we negate and reject the grace of GOD that has been lavishly bestowed upon us.
