“Out of the same mouth we pour out words of praise one minute and curses the next. My brothers and sisters, this should never be!” – James (Jacob) 3:10 TPT
The Bible tells us that we will give an account for every idle word that we speak, it is our very words that will be used as evidence, and our words will declare us either innocent or guilty (Matthew 12:36-37). We also know that our words come from what’s in our hearts, so if the words that we speak are not words of life, we need to look into our hearts and have a deep introspection and ask the Holy Spirit to root out anything that is not of GOD in us. “Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening?”, James 3:11. Words are known to make or break people, what are our words doing?
“Let the word of Christ live in you richly, flooding you with all wisdom. Apply the Scriptures as you teach and instruct one another with the Psalms, and with festive praises, and with prophetic songs given to you spontaneously by the Spirit, so sing to GOD with all your hearts! Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. And bring your constant praise to GOD the Father because of what Christ has done for you!”, Colossians 3:16-17 TPT. Our words are to be used to build and strengthen each other even as we use the same mouth to praise and worship GOD.
“Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another. This is how everyone will recognize that you are my disciples—when they see the love you have for each other.” John 13:34-35 MSG. Our love for one another is proof to the world that we are Christ’s disciples, when we love one another, we will only speak words of love to build each other up and not tear each other down. “To love GOD is to obey GOD” and GOD commands us to love one another! And our words directed at one another are important, either words of blessing or cursing but it can’t be both.
Our words are to be used to build and strengthen each other even as we use the same mouth to praise and worship GOD
