Faith Is A Verb!

Faith Is A Verb!

“The Lord had said to Abraham, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the Land I will show you”. So Abraham left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with Him. Abraham was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.” – Genesis 12:1, 4 NIV

As we would often hear it being said that “Faith is a verb, a doing word”. Faith is not what you say, feel or think but rather what you do. It is the daily act of choice to believe GOD and take Him at His word, despite worldly circumstances. Abraham acted out his faith in ways that pleased GOD and for that, he was blessed. Abraham had nothing on which to base his actions, no previous experiences, no materialistic manifestations, nothing but his faith in GOD. He also never had any idea how the promises of God upon his life would unfold but he continuously took a step of blind faith towards everything GOD instructed him to do. Through doing so, he gained the title “The Father Of Faith”.

The word of God says; “By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.” I cannot even begin to imagine if this was one of us Christians. Would we be willing to leave a familiar place and go to a completely foreign place? The truth is that most of us would not. Perhaps we would fight the instruction from GOD and some maybe may eventually give in after fighting and some might never even consider it. Abraham, however, understood that having faith means believing way before you see things materializing. By faith, he received God’s promises to him way before he thought of even seeing it. (Hebrews 11:13). When GOD asked of him to come out of his land, he simply did so, no questions asked even though he did not know where he was going. He did not just believe that GOD will see him through but he acted out his faith by actually talking an action to move. We must learn to embody this trait in order to strengthen our faith and walk with GOD. We must not just say we believe, but our belief must be acted out.

When GOD asked of him to come out of his land, he simply did so, no questions asked even though he did not know where he was going
