Walking With The LORD

Walking With The LORD

Sunday Message Summary, 19 September 2021

No one shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven unless they do the will of the Father (Matthew 7:21). However, it is impossible to know the will of the LORD without a relationship with Him. We could be doing in the name of GOD, and for GOD, yet it being all amiss. We must therefore not be so focused on performance, but what is primary is a relationship with GOD, walking with GOD, and knowing the heartbeat of GOD. There is a tragedy and danger in serving GOD without a living relationship with Him and knowing Him, because if it is not GOD authorizing and telling us what to do, it is lawlessness, even if we do it in His name (Matthew 7:22-23).

There is a difference between serving and seeking GOD. What is up to us is the seeking, but the serving comes by the grace of GOD. Our bother should be seeking GOD. Many Christians have the “Martha syndrome”, distracted and worried about serving, being so lost in serving, but not seeking the One we serve (Luke 10:38-42). Serving and seeking must go together, because when we know the LORD, He will tell us what He wants us to do for Him, if that is what He wants. The only authentic service we can render to GOD comes from our authentic walk with GOD, and what pleases GOD more than anything we can ever do for Him is walking with Him. Everything else is worthless when compared to the infinite value of knowing Jesus Christ our LORD (Philippians 3:8 NLT).

Enoch dedicated his life to seeking GOD (Genesis 5:21-24). There was nothing that Enoch did for GOD that is noted in Scripture, but the only thing noted is that He walked with GOD. The years of his life mattered to GOD because he spent them seeking Him. GOD knew exactly where the interest of Enoch’s heart was, and he had a testimony that he pleased GOD (Hebrews 11:5). Our works don’t open the gate of Heaven for us, but the will of GOD does. If we set ourselves to seek GOD, GOD will reveal Himself (Hebrews 11:6). This is true Christianity. GOD is real and He wants to be known in a real way.

If we are to walk with GOD, we ought to keep in step with the Spirit, not jumping the gun and going ahead of the LORD (Galatians 5:25). Every part of our lives must be surrendered willingly and voluntarily to the Holy Spirit. This is where we have no choices or decisions to make in any part of our lives. We must allow the Holy Spirit to direct our lives, daily submitting ourselves to His leading.

What pleases GOD more than anything we can ever do for Him is walking with Him.
