The Cares Of This Life vs Your Christian Life

The Cares Of This Life vs Your Christian Life

“Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful.” – Matthew 13:22

Perhaps the reason why Christianity is the most opposed faith, most meddled with, most disputed, most poked, is because it is the one faith that opposes the way of living. Christianity deals with self directly, it calls for the crucifixion of self. To become a fruitful Christian, you must deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Christ (Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.” – Matthew 16:24). In order for us to thrive in our Christian lives, the flesh must be subdued by the Spirit through the Word. But when we are too attached to our lives to let go and follow the instructions in Scripture on how to live, the thing we’d like to call Christianity would not at all be Christianity (For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. – Matthew 16:25).

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. – II Corinthians 5:17. For anyone to succeed in GOD they have to be a totally new being. The old man cannot receive the things of the Spirit so the LORD has already done the spiritual work that enables us to walk in the Spirit, ours is to walk in it. There has to be a laying down of all that we esteemed in this life to lay hold of Christ. The Word of God cannot be effective in our lives when we do not take what we hear in the Word and live it out in real life. When we cannot let go of everything we thought our lives ought to be in exchange for everything GOD intended our lives to be, the battle of flesh and Spirit, the battle of your life as you knew it, and the new birth. You cannot just hear the Word and walk away, it has to become your life, it must change everything to the disapproval of your closest acquaintances because it is a life of calling, a divine life, a Spirit-led life.

There has to be a laying down of all that we esteemed in this life to lay hold of Christ.
