“If someone says, ‘I love GOD,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love GOD whom he has not seen?” – 1 John 4:20
Christianity revolves around our relationships with each other as the body of believers. It doesn’t matter how knowledgeable and mature you become in the Scriptures, these Scriptures must result in healthy relations with the Godhead and with others. You miss that, you’ve missed the whole thing. The Jews excelled in memorizing and upholding the Scriptures but missed what the Scriptures were about – Christ (“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” John 5:39). Love GOD, love others, that’s what the Scriptures are about. If you believe that GOD is, you will be bombarded with the importance, relevance, and worth of the next person, regardless of who they are. Do not make the mistake of making your Christianity about yourself, what you can get, how you are treated, if you are acknowledged (“But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Matthew 23:11). Consider others better than yourself, endure all things (“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.” Philippians 2:3). GOD is at work in us, He is dealing with us. Christianity is divine science, your intelligence and perceptiveness are not required, only your obedience. There are some things that GOD cannot teach us via the Word, He has to use experience. This is Christianity, along with other glorious and lovely things, are you still down?
