“My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours’” – Luke 15:31 NIV
According to the Government Gazette, 4,8 million South Africans have not claimed their pensions that are estimated to be worth R42 billion. This means that there are possibly people who are living in abject poverty even though they are theoretically millionaires. Some are probably fasting and praying for breakthroughs, others on the brink of abandoning their faith because they believe their prayers are falling on deaf ears. Their “breakthrough” is sitting with the government and their ignorance is leading to their demise.
In the above Scripture, it is clear that the older brother didn’t realize what he possessed. He has been tirelessly working to earn what had already been given to him. He was laboring for what was his birthright. What touches me about this story is that the father wasn’t aware that the son didn’t know that he had an inheritance that is available for him to enjoy. It broke the father’s heart that his son didn’t understand or appreciate his birthright. Who’s fault is it that he didn’t know all this? Why don’t Christians know their inheritance? “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from GOD, so that we may understand what GOD has freely given us” (1 Corinthians 2:12 NIV).
All that GOD has given us is only revealed by the Spirit. This is the same problem Adam and Eve had in the garden. GOD had already given them everything yet satan convinced them that GOD had withheld some things. This is why knowledge plays a very crucial role in the life of a child of God. The beauty about these gifts and blessings that have been freely given, they have to be accessed through divine knowledge by the Spirit. There are also blessings that were given for me and only I can access them. Let us seek GOD and allow Him to reveal all that He has in store for us. Let us allow the Spirit to search these deep things that are hidden.
Let us seek GOD and allow Him to reveal all that He has in store for us. Let us allow the Spirit to search these deep things that are hidden.
