“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

One thing that all parents can attest to is that there is no definitive manual out there on how to be the best parent or how to raise the world’s greatest kids. So we need all the help we can get. When I was expecting my first child I read several books and articles on parenting and on what to expect, but nothing prepared me for that actual moment when the baby was in my arms and reality hit that this little person was dependent on me for their entire well-being. Their food, clothes, protection, upbringing, and how they will turn out. I once asked my dad about what he found the hardest about parenting and he said that providing for the baby financially and physically is the easy part. It’s the emotional and spiritual investment that is most challenging. I couldn’t agree with him more.

What we say and do not say to a child has a direct effect on how they turn out. Their emotional and mental health is tied down to how we raise and relate to them and our actions or lack of where they are concerned matter in God’s plans and destiny for them. So we can all agree that parenting is the one task that cannot be done by mere research or “experience”, we need GOD every step of the way to help us to guide and raise these children that He has entrusted us with. He is our greatest co-parent and He knows the end from the beginning for both parent and child.

There are moments in every parent’s life where you will look at your children and feel that you have no idea what you are doing. This is someone with his or her own personality, interests, and dreams and because they are a person all on their own, divine wisdom is needed for them to be guided in the will of God. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 NIV. Only GOD knows who and what we are meant to be in this world, we cannot make any final decisions regarding our children without GOD having the final say. All we can do is “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJV, and TRUST that the Godly foundations we lay in them will sustain them to the end of their time. The challenge is for us parents to also equip ourselves and fill our minds and hearts with the Word of God, to constantly seek His face in everything concerning how we lead those we have been entrusted with for in due time we will face the Creator and give an account of what was expected of us.

He is our greatest co-parent and He knows the end from the beginning for both parent and child.
