“And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.” – Exodus 3: 9-10 NIV
When GOD first encountered Moses at Horeb, He first introduced Himself as the GOD of his ancestors. This makes it clear that even during the slavery in Egypt, the Israelites knew that they had a GOD. So you can imagine what it’s like going through the most while knowing full well that you have a GOD. It may sometimes seem like He is not bothered by our suffering as His people. In 2021 there were moments where you may have asked yourself where is this GOD that my parents taught me to believe in? Doesn’t He realize that my family is struggling? Doesn’t He realize that I’ve surrendered the things of this world and have dedicated all of my energy into serving Him? Then where is He? What touches my heart is that verse 7 (Exodus 3) shows that He has always been there, my suffering and prayers touched His heart. This means that throughout the challenges He’s always been listening and watching, this gives me great comfort. During the times I was questioning His loyalty/love, my GOD has always been working to solve my situation, He was just waiting for the perfect season. In Verse 8, He then tells Moses, “So I have come down….”. The GOD who created Heaven and Earth comes down to personally handle my situation (What is man that You are mindful of him?).
GOD then chose a vessel to bring about a breakthrough for His people (let’s not also forget that the same vessel also has his own issues that he’s dealing with, yet is obedient to his GOD). This vessel carries the huge responsibility of speaking God’s Word, and not adding his own flavor to it. A vessel that fears and honors GOD. The Bible says, “Let those who have ears listen to what the Spirit says” (Revelation 2:29). This means that even when GOD speaks through His own chosen vessel, some will not listen or take heed. Like the Israelites before us, GOD has spoken His Word and it’s up to us to decide if we will listen or not. Those who receive and run with it, honor GOD and will receive according to their faith. We must also remember that the same Word will come under attack but we must persist because GOD has spoken it, and if He has, will He not do it?
“Yet GOD has made everything beautiful for its own time”, Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT. GOD has spoken this good news at the right time, so it is time for us to rise. The suffering that we have endured is but a distant memory. It’s time for us to replenish our depleted stores, and fill them to the brim. Just like the Israelites who during their journey to the promised land still needed to honor and respect Moses. May we also honor and respect God’s chosen vessel lest we become like Miriam and Aaron. Those that receive a prophet in the name of a prophet will…
We must persist because GOD has spoken it, and if He has, will He not do it?
