A Victor’s Mindset

A Victor’s Mindset

Sunday Message Summary, 6 February 2022

Everything we see has been inspired, instigated, and orchestrated in the unseen. This means that evil, wickedness, sin, and darkness is organized and coordinated, and it is not random. Though GOD created man pure and holy, evil in man is because of the ruler of this world (John 14:30). There are demonic agents who are tasked with perpetrating darkness, evil and sin (Ephesians 6:12). They even perpetrate wickedness against the church, throwing accusations, so much so that some believe these accusations without understanding that there is a structure behind them. There is an invisible force and power behind everything we do, and it depends on us to whom or to what we have decided to yield ourselves to be used.

There is competition in the spirit to rule us. The kingdom of darkness is a system which knows our weakness, and attacks are designed, curated, and custom-made according to our weakest point. Darkness spreads very stealthily, it is a convoluted web, and it has many tentacles. Sin lures and sucks one in through a systematic, step-by-step process. When we know this, how then should we respond? We fight this by developing a victor’s mindset and character. The Bible tells us how to respond and how to be. It tells us everything we need to walk in the victory that has already been given to us.

Every kingdom is well structured from head to toe and toe to head. Even in the kingdom of darkness there are designated roles and responsibilities, there is control and a system, and this sadly makes the kingdom of darkness effective, while the body of Christ mostly finds us divided among ourselves. It is not necessarily sin that is a problem for us, but the waywardness of not being rightly placed in the order of command which GOD has established. We have no victory when we are not rightly related within a God-established hierarchy. A Christian is an athlete running for the victor’s crown; and a soldier not getting entangled in civilian affairs, however every athlete has a trainer, and every soldier has a commander. Who is training and commanding us? There ought to be a rightly delegated hierarchy of order.

Our duty is to put on the whole armor of GOD and resist the devil, saying no to the desires of the flesh (Ephesians 6:13). The whole armor of GOD is about being intentional, organized, and prepared in the spirit, so that when we are attacked, we will be able to stand. The armor is a tool to be used against the powers of darkness, not an ornament to make us look good. Saying no to wrong is an intention, and as Christians our decisions and intentions are intact (1 Peter 1:13), so it is for us to submit to GOD and resist the devil (James 4:7-8).  We need the discipline to keep our minds set on GOD (Isaiah 26:3), not allowing negative thoughts to sway us. Attacks must find us victorious and leave us victorious still. It is the mentality, attitude, and mindset we adopt that matters. If we are not intentional, the kingdom of darkness is intentional against us.

There is no condemnation in Jesus, so where we have fallen short, we must steady ourselves and rise again, walking according to the Word of God (Hebrews 12:12-13). We have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness, but we must remember to be diligent and disciplined (2 Peter 1:2-5). We ought to self-examine, self-correct, and repent. Only then will GOD restore us.

It is the mentality, attitude, and mindset we adopt that matters. If we are not intentional, the kingdom of darkness is intentional against us.
