“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.” – Ephesians 6:12 AMP

A few weeks ago my daughter started high school and we were both nervous and excited about her first day. She came back talking about how much she loved being there and how she had even made new friends. A week later, however, she opened up about how one girl in her class had been actively bullying her and now she was genuinely scared of being there because she never knows what to expect. As a parent, my first internal reaction was hot burning anger and a strong urge to hot foot to the school for a stern warning to the bully, but because the Holy Spirit is alive within us and leads us in all things, He immediately spoke sense to me and that plan was quickly aborted. I suggested we take this matter to GOD and see what happens. So for the next five days, we prayed for what we would like to see happen, for whatever spirit that is behind her behavior to leave and for the Spirit of God to take over. A week later my daughter comes home and tells me how sweet and kind her former terrorist has become. To a point where she has done a 180 degree turn and even wants to be friends with her. So this was the power of prayer working mightily to disarm the enemy that was bringing turmoil for both these young girls.

For me, this was a reminder of how much we take who we are for granted. As soldiers in the army of GOD, we have no reason to respond to a battle call like the civilians in the world when we have been endowed with so much power. Taking matters into our own hands only serves to weaken us as the protection of God’s power cannot work when operating in the flesh. So as believers, we need to wake up to the fact that there is a war raging around us. Whether we accept that or not does not change the facts but one thing is true, “For GOD will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 TPT. We need not fear anything the enemy throws at us. If we stay focused and disciplined in the things of GOD, keep the full armor of God on, and remember to take every attack to the level of the spirit, we will remain standing.

“And he has appointed some with grace to be apostles, and some with grace to be prophets, and some with grace to be evangelists, and some with grace to be pastors, and some with grace to be teachers. And their calling is to nurture and prepare all the holy believers to do their own works of ministry, and as they do this they will enlarge and build up the body of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-12 TPT. May we remain humble and disciplined as we are led and guided by God’s chosen leaders. An army does not build itself, nor does a soldier become a warrior in isolation. The blessings and equipping of man come from GOD through man.

If we stay focused and disciplined in the things of GOD, keep the full armor of God on, and remember to take every attack to the level of the spirit, we will remain standing.
