Sunday Message Summary, 27 February 2022
The blessings of GOD are ever-increasing. GOD does not want to bless us and stop, but He wants to bless us and continue. One of the key requirements of walking in this abundance is doing what the Word of the LORD says (Deuteronomy 8:1). Therefore, GOD can only bless us when we are humble. Humility is a requisite to walking in the abundance, blessings and promises of GOD. GOD had to lead Israel for forty years in the wilderness to test and humble them (Deuteronomy 8:2-3) because the LORD knows that a proud heart cannot stand before Him, nor can it receive anything from Him.
God upholds, sustains, protects, and blesses the humble, but He turns His back on the proud and stands against them, because GOD detests pride (1 Peter 5:5-6). Pride cannot obey the Word of God because it is a wrong spirit. If we have spiritual pride, we are resisted by GOD Himself, and it is for us to humble ourselves that we may walk in the grace we have been given and brought into. If pride is in the heart, that heart will produce the fruits of pride, which is neither blessings nor prosperity. In Israel’s case, with hearts such as they had, they could not enter the promised land, so there was a testing. GOD tests us to reveal to us what is in our hearts for us to deal with it. It is God’s desire for all to cross over, but He knows that a proud person cannot obey Him.
The attitude that inherits the blessings and walks in the abundance of God’s promises is that which is humble enough to know that no matter what we can do, or what we can have, it is all by the grace of God (Deuteronomy 8:3).It takes humility to know that we shall not live by bread alone. We shall not live by physical things only, but by the Word of God, and those that take GOD at His Word are humble. The heart of humility is the heart that fears the LORD, and this is the heart that inherits the ever-increasing blessings of GOD, because it is not the physical food that is sustaining us, but it is the Word of God.
The barometer or indicator of whether we are proud or humble is whether we are submissive and obedient in the church where GOD has placed us. How do we relate to the leadership we are placed under? Without humility, we will not be submissive to leadership, and if we are not submissive nor obedient in the church, we will not be blessed. Blessings flow from the church. True servants are submissive and obedient to leadership whether they agree or not, and whether they understand or not.
The attitude that inherits the blessings and walks in the abundance of God’s promises is that which is humble enough to know that no matter what we can do, or what we can have, it is all by the grace of God.
