Sunday Message Summary, 22 May 2022
As Christians it is by the will and the ability of GOD that we heard the Gospel, believed that which we heard and became born again. We didn’t do anything. This is the supernatural life of a believer. Now that we are born again, we cannot try to help GOD and bring in the arm of flesh (Galatians 3:3). There is nothing anyone can do in the flesh that can please GOD, because that which is pleasing to GOD He has already done. Ours is to work out what GOD has already worked in, working out the finished work of the cross.
The Kingdom of GOD is from grace to grace. Grace is the gift of GOD, so it is unmerited. Whatever GOD wants us to do, He gives us the power to do it (Philippians 2:13), so there is no entitlement in the Kingdom of GOD. We are what we are and who we are by the grace of GOD. The life we live in the flesh, we live it by faith in the Son of GOD (Galatians 2:20), by grace and not self-effort. It is a grace life from end to end. To live a Christian life is therefore not by doing, it is by the grace of GOD. The Christian life is continuous, continual, perpetual surrender to the Holy Spirit.
Everything is ours by birthright when we are born again, which is by grace through faith, so we cannot work for anything to be given or to be made available. Whatever Jesus owns, we own it together with Him, so our works cannot stand. We are recipients of everything that is from GOD, so there is nothing that we can give. Our self-effort is opposite to the grace of GOD (Romans 4:4-5) and the flesh cannot stand and boast before GOD. We therefore need to hold onto and continue in that which we were born again by.
There is a rest that GOD has promised to us (Hebrews 4:1) which is the grace of God, in which everything is provided. Those who have ceased from works do enter the rest of GOD. However, he who works does not believe and cannot enter the promised rest (Hebrews 4:10). Anyone who is not resting is frustrating the grace of God for their life, and when we frustrate the grace nothing works (Galatians 2:21 KJV). Grace and works are mutually exclusive, so where self-effort and self-entitlement end, the grace of GOD begins. We must rely fully and wholly on the grace of GOD.
Anyone who is not resting is frustrating the grace of God for their life, and when we frustrate the grace nothing works
