To Tithe / Not To Tithe (Part 2)

To Tithe / Not To Tithe (Part 2)

Sunday Message Summary, 29 May 2022

The issue of tithe under Malachi 3:8-10 was a requirement for Israel as a nation, not the church of Jesus Christ. We therefore cannot fall under the curse mentioned in Malachi because we are not under the law. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of Malachi (Galatians 3:13) and it is those who are trying to do the law who are under a curse (Galatians 3:10).  The law had requirements, but Jesus has wiped out the handwriting of the law, He has taken it out of the way and nailed it to the cross (Colossians 2:13-14). Malachi 3 is not talking to the church of Jesus Christ because the person who is led by the Spirit is not under law (Galatians 5:18).

The Holy Spirit is our Leader, Teacher, Guide and Counselor. If we are led by the Spirit, what is He saying about giving? GOD loves the one who gives out of a grateful heart (2 Corinthians 9:6-7), so giving under grace is not an obligation nor a commandment, but it comes from the heart. It is not religious duty (2 Corinthians 9:6-7 TPT) but giving should be done with a grateful heart. Furthermore, it is giving for the right purpose which is pleasing to GOD, so GOD will bless that which is given towards the Gospel. There are rewards when we sow in the name of the LORD, sowing in the right way, so let us not grow weary in giving but let us be consistent.Let us be givers, not people who hold back. If we have not sown, we cannot reap, so when we sow, we do ourselves a favor (Galatians 6:6-10).

4 reasons why we should give as children of GOD:

1. Giving is a principle in the Kingdom of GOD (Genesis 8:22).

2. Giving is sowing into our own blessings (2 Corinthians 9:10; Proverbs 11:24-25).

3. Giving supports the church and it funds the Gospel.

4. Giving enables the church to help the needy.

There are rewards when we sow in the name of the LORD, sowing in the right way, so let us not grow weary in giving but let us be consistent.
