Sunday Message Summary, 26 June 2022
The reality of Christianity is in Christ, by Christ and for Christ. Jesus became our righteousness when He was made sin for us though He could not sin. He was made sin for our righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). It is through the obedience of Christ that we were made righteous (Romans 5:19). Jesus could not disobey GOD, so His obedience took Him to the Cross (Philippians 2:8), and He became obedient to the point of death to buy us back. Christ’s obedience became our obedience, so He did it for us. We were purchased by the blood of GOD Himself (Acts 20:28). We are the bought, we are slaves of righteousness, and only the blood of GOD could buy us.
GOD sees no darkness in us. How could He buy us with His own blood, yet we be found with darkness? If we are born again, Christ lives in us, and we live in Him (Galatians 2:20). This is the reality and confession of faith for every believer. Since Christ is in us, we are not in the flesh, but our flesh is dead to sin and we are alive to righteousness (Romans 8:9-10). This is our present reality – we can’t be in the flesh and be in Christ at the same time. We are not righteous because of what we do. We are righteous because it’s who we are. As Christians, what we do does not make us who we are in the spirit. Jesus satisfied all the requirements of justice to the effect that we should live no longer for ourselves, but we should live for GOD (2 Corinthians 5:15).
Christ bought us that we should totally live for Him and not for ourselves. We are not here on Earth to do what we want, like or please, but we are here to do what GOD has predestined (Ephesians 2:10). All things were created by Him, through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16), so GOD made everything for Himself, and what GOD wants is the only thing we should concern ourselves with. GOD gives us the power, ability, enablement, and resources to do what He wants, not what we want; for His good pleasure, not for our good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). We were born again not to display ourselves, but to display the goodness of GOD, so we must be fruitful in what He directs us to do. We are new creatures, created for the glory of GOD, for His good pleasure. To have us, GOD gave everything, but where is GOD in what we want to do?
