“but the people who know their GOD shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” – Daniel 11:32b NKJV
“GOD also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?” – Hebrews 2:4 NKJV
I believe that one of the biggest hindrances to walking in the power of GOD is self. I believe that many believers are still “married” to their lives, comforts, desires, dreams, and ambitions. We want what we want, when we want and we will do whatever it takes to get it. “The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to Me, will find true life and enjoy it forever!” John 12:25 TPT. The Bible is pretty clear regarding this, that we have died and no longer live, but the more we hold on to our lives, the more we forfeit walking in the TRUE life of power that GOD has for us.
We are called to be witnesses of Jesus, Kingdom citizens who know their GOD and who carry out great exploits. I’m just reminded of a certain “church” that blew up a couple of years ago, where thousands would flock to watch the so-called man of GOD, tell people what is in their fridges. To tell the truth, even I was fascinated. It was “God’s power” on display, and we couldn’t help but marvel. We are ALL called to walk in the AUTHENTIC power of GOD. The world should marvel at us as we bear witness to GOD, with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His will.
We need to make room in our lives for what GOD wants to do in us and through us. It’s not enough to only know about our identity in Christ, we need to live it out. For us to live it out, we need to know that we’ve been given Kingdom authority and power. This Kingdom authority and power has a purpose, and can only be entrusted to those that have died to self, and have taken up the Kingdom mandate and assignment. If we have not died to self, we will use these gifts to point people to ourselves, when we should be pointing them to Christ. “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.” I Corinthians 12:7, 11 NKJV.
