Who Is Your Master?

Who Is Your Master?

“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?” – Romans 6:15-16 NKJV

The Bible tells us that we cannot serve two masters because we will either hate one and love the other, or we will be loyal to one and despise the other (Matthew 6:24). In the context of the Scripture, it’s talking about GOD and money, however, I believe it’s a universal principle, more so, if the two masters are in complete opposition to one another. For the sake of this text, the two masters are sin and obedience. One leads to death and the other leads to righteousness. It is our choice as to which of the two masters we will choose. We’ve been given the power of choice.

“And I will give you a new heart—I will give you new and right desires—and put a new spirit within you. I will take out your stony hearts of sin and give you new hearts of love. And I will put my Spirit within you so that you will obey my laws and do whatever I command.” Ezekiel 36:26-27 TLB

We’ve been given everything that we need to obey GOD, the only thing that we need to do, is to choose. We’ve been given the right desires, we’ve been given new hearts, and we’ve been given the Holy Spirit. It’s as if GOD Himself has set us up for success, we just need to show up and present ourselves. He’s done all the hard work for us and has given us the victory in Christ Jesus.

“There are some people who ruin their own lives and then blame it all on God.” Proverbs 19:3 TPT. The only person to blame if we mess up our lives is ourselves by the choices we make. GOD has already played His part. Sadly, we live in a world that is always looking for someone else to blame, but we have to go back and take a look at ourselves and make better decisions. The best place to start is choosing a master to serve and to present ourselves to that master, daily.

It is our choice as to which of the two masters we will choose. We’ve been given the power of choice.
