“But you belong to GOD, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world” – 1 John 4:4 NLT
We can’t have any discussion about overcoming the odds and defeating your enemy without mentioning the movie Matrix, I am what I am. Everyone was at Zion and the machine army was on its way to destroy every single living being. Millions of sentinels were on their way and defeat was inevitable, if anything, it was guaranteed. Sensing the mood around Zion, they asked Morpheus to address everyone. He then said to them, “I stand before you truthfully unafraid. Not because I know something you don’t. I stand unafraid because I know where we come from and where we’ve been”. He then goes on to fight this adversary they must first shed their fear of. He said, that for a hundred years the machines have been trying to kill them, yet after a century of war, he knows what matters the most: That they are STILL HERE.
We aren’t ignorant of the fact that satan has been scheming and plotting our demise for centuries. He has perfected his craft over these years and his deception has evolved to almost perfection. Like Morpheus before me, I know what matters the most, “I am still here”. I am still a child of GOD, I am still royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9), GOD’s special possession, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I am made in the image and likeness of my Creator (Genesis 1:26), and this adversary will NEVER steal or make me renounce my heritage and lineage. I am royalty, and he will never blindside me into forgetting who I am and Whose I am.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, GOD’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” – 1 Peter 2:9 NIV. Peter wasn’t trying to hype us into a false state of deception, but what he was trying to remind us of was that we aren’t just beings that GOD is playing russian roulette with, but that we are His CHOSEN (meaning, He intentionally and purposely called and created us). This is why we are given the necessary tools to overcome, achieve, and excel. We are more than conquerors because of Who is in us (2 Corinthians 4:7), because of Who is at work in us (1 John 4:4).
“For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but divinely powerful toward the demolition of strongholds” – 2 Corinthians 10:4 BLB. GOD has given us His Word to demolish, and completely OBLITERATE the enemy’s schemes and devices. We aren’t ignorant of his power, but we have more. We have the One Who has already defeated him, working in us (John 16:33). The secret to our success is in knowing who we are, and this can only be achieved by knowing, internalizing, and meditating on the sword of the Spirit, the Word of GOD. This is why our enemy tries to either preoccupy our minds with foolish things so that we don’t pay attention to the Word, or try to steal the Word from us (parable of the sower). He knows the only key to our success is wielding the sword of the Spirit and using it to combat him and his allies. Our victory is assured only if we have the discipline to meditate on and apply the Word of GOD as it was meant to be applied (2 Timothy 2:15).
Our enemy tries to either preoccupy our minds with foolish things so that we don’t pay attention to the Word, or try to steal the Word from us (parable of the sower). He knows the only key to our success is wielding the sword of the Spirit and using it to combat him and his allies
