You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat – Matthew 5:6 MSG.
GOD is attracted by need, the Bible tells us that GOD is a jealous GOD, He wants us to run to Him for ALL our needs, from the tiny stuff to the bigger stuff. We ought to ask GOD for a hunger for Him and a total dependence on Him, He wants to be our first port of call in everything and at all times.
The word of the LORD came to Prophet Elijah in 2 Kings 3 saying, “‘Make this valley full of ditches.’ For thus says the LORD: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’ And this is a simple matter in the sight of the LORD; He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.” GOD wanted to prove that we don’t have to depend on the wind and the rain for there to be water (an essential need), He is able to provide in an unconventional manner, it is a simple matter to GOD. To top it off He wants to defeat your enemies on your behalf without you having to take up arms.
We have to cultivate our need for GOD, one of the things GOD rebuked the church of the Laodiceans of in the book of Revelation was that they considered themselves wealthy and felt they had need for nothing not knowing that because they “outgrew” their need for GOD, He considered them to be wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked (Revelation 3:17). Wherever there’s a need for GOD, He is always ready to pour Himself out but when that need runs out, He ceases to pour Himself out just like the story of Elisha and the widow, when the jars ran out (the need), the oil ceased (the pouring out)(2 Kings 4:1-7).
